Severely poor, this film is largely obsolete in terms of content and performance. All told a weak film on what could have been an exciting and interesting one. The actors playing the lawyers also have not been able to impress. Sidhant falls short of portaying the famous character Probably she lacks the maturity reqired for performing this role and someone like Shabana Azmi or Tabu would have done greater justice. Shraddha clearly fails to project the anguish and helplessness of a woman harassed by circumstances.

Both real life brother sister Shraddha and Sidhant Kapoor struggle to get under the skin of their characters. Nothing wrong but it gets monotonous after some time.
The film is told in a format where every question in court takes Hasina back to those times. The characters Dawood Ibrahim and sister Hasina Parkar are high profile and there was plenty of potential to create an exciting screenplay but all we see are drab questions and discussions by dull lawyers presided over by a bored and irritated judge. ĭuring the course of watching this film one gets bored with the dull court room scenes which is a paradox of sorts because courtroom scenes can be made very tense and exciting with the right actors and dialogue. Recommended for those who view cinema with a critical mind.
By documenting the period details with neutrality ,it's not judgemental. To me HP is a kind of Muslim social so far as the Kaskars are concerned. Where the presentation lacks? The editing could be linear rather than as flash back of the court proceedings.This causes confusion.The songs could have been avoided.Ī general observation- with the communities being highly polarised it becomes difficult to say whether an act is a crime or made in self defence? With the law and order machinery's hands being held back partly because of corruption and partly because of political interference criminals are never brought to the book. Where does the film succeed? It's well researched.The screenplay is powerful.All performances are top class and look real.Shradha Kapoor shones in her aura ,confidence and essaying a difficult and complex role at a fairly young age of hers.Her characterisation inspires - a domestic housewife,loses her husband in gang war,has to shoulder the burden of her family despite no help from others( who have fled),bear the smear campaign against her and above all the frequent knocks at her door by the investigative agencies.The minor details of the period have not been ignored. What line of reasoning the prosecutrix takes in the court? She's guilty because of her association with a powerful brother whose a fugitive?
Surprisingly none for killings and causing terror. Why were court proceedings initiated against her? She was accused of being guilty for extortions,cheating and conspiracy. A one sided view has been projected by the media and the powers that be so far as their criminalities are concerned.This could be true though never prooved in a court of law.Īll but one of the twelve siblings had fled the country to escape the hot pursuit.Haseena Parkar ,the daughter and sis of the most wanted has stayed back.The film is the story of this person for the period 1973 to 2007.
